Sex-Slave Report: The UN’s Global Hoax (2016)

“Sex-Slave” Report: The UN’s Global Hoax — Report from Japanese Delegations to the UN in Geneva (国連が世界に広めた「慰安婦=性奴隷」の嘘 ジュネーブ国連派遣団報告) is a 2016 Japanese language publication that compiles activities of the Alliance for Truth about Comfort Women, which has sent three delegations to various United Nations committees between 2014 and 2016. The book is edited by Nobukatsu Fujioka of the Japanese Society for History Textbook Reform and features over a dozen contributors.

Ninohashi Club

Ninohashi Club (二の橋倶楽部) is an anti-Korean group named after Ninohashi area of Tokyo, where the Embassy of the Republic of Korea (South Korea) as well as the headquarters of the Korean Residents Union in Japan (Mindan, 在日本大韓民国民団) are located. The group organizes frequent demonstrations against the Korean Embassy and Mindan over history, territorial disputes, and other issues.

Ninohashi Club submitted a two-page position paper to the United Nations Committee for the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women in 2016 which disputed the historical orthodoxy on comfort women–see Alliance for Truth About Comfort Women Geneva Delegation (2016).

Researchers of History on Modern Japan

Researchers of History on Modern Japan (HMJR, 日本近現代史研究会, also “KINGEN”) is a group of amateur “historians” founded in 2008 by Michio Ochiai (落合道夫), a member of Japan Conference. Kiyoshi Hosoya is the secretary general of HMJR, who hosts monthly lectures in Tokyo.

Under the leadership of Hosoya, HMJR submitted a position paper to the United Nations–see Alliance for Truth About Comfort Women Geneva Delegation (2016)–and filed an amicus curie in Gingery et al. v. City of Glendale.

In February 2016, Alliance for Truth about Comfort Women sent its third overseas delegation to Geneva, Switzerland to dispute the historical orthodoxy of comfort women at the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

Alliance for Truth about Comfort Women Geneva Delegation (2015)

In July 2015, Alliance for Truth about Comfort Women sent its second overseas delegation to Geneva, Switzerland to participate at the pre-session meeting of the United Nations Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW) and to lobby at the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) against the inclusion of Nanking atrocities and comfort women in its Memory of the World Register.

Delegation member Mio Sugita successfully obtained an opportunity to speak to the CEDAW to dispute the historical orthodoxy of comfort women by using the UN consultative status of International Career Support Association, which has become a vehicle to promote Japanese historical denial at the UN level.

Japan Mahoroba Station

Japan Mahoroba Station (JMS, 日本まほろば支援局), also known as Japan Mahoroba Support Agency is an online group founded in 2014 by New York-based Kaoli Koyasu to foster “better understanding of Japanese society and culture” starting among Japanese people. It promotes nationalistic views on Japan’s history and culture, including comfort women denial.

Mahoroba Station has co-sponsored various right-wing and comfort women denier events in the U.S., including Texas Night in NYC (2015), Texas Night in NYC (2016), and the Nadeshiko Action panel at the UN Commission on the Status of Women NGO Parallel Events (2016).

Norimasa Suzuki

Norimasa Suzuki (鈴木規正) is a licensed massage therapist in New York City specializing in seitai shiatsu massage and a comfort women denier. As the president of Seiron-no Kai NY (also New York Seiron-no Kai), Suzuki spoke at comfort women denier events Texas Night in NYC (2015) and Texas Night in NYC (2016). It is unclear if Seiron-no Kai is an actual organization, as evidences of its activity cannot be found beyond Suzuki’s appearances on these panels.

In December 2015, Suzuki wrote an open letter to Prime Minister Shinzo Abe criticizing the Japan-ROK Agreement (2015) on the comfort women issue, which was widely shared among Japan’s right-wing.
